Seven killed in plane crash in Southwest Colombia

At least seven people were killed and three others injured when a small plane crashed in a residential district in Popayan in southwest Colombia, officials confirmed.

According to the Popayan fire department, seven people died and three others were injured, including a 10-year-old boy when the plane crashed into a house. Authorities are searching for other victims at the site, QNA said in a report.

For its part, the Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement that the plane which belonged to an airline called Transpacifico, crashed shortly after taking off from Payan, capital of Cauca department.

Colombia’s civil aviation authority said in a statement the it was investigating the cause of the accident.   (UNI)
