TDP, Left parties organise protests over PM visit across AP

Protests in various forms were organized across Andhra Pradesh by the activists of Telugu Desam Party and Left parties on Saturday in protest against the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the state on Sunday.
Flexi banners and hoardings were erected at various crowded places and on the National Highway from Gannavaram Airport to Modi’s public meeting venue with slogans like “Modi Go Back”.
Left party activists led by CPI(M) state Secretary R Madhu and CPI state Secretary K Rama Krishna led protest demonstration at Lenin centre here. They held empty pots, raised slogans like ‘Modi Go Back’, and later broke the pots.
In Guntur, Telugu Desam youth wing, the Telugu Yuvata activists took out motorcycle rally protesting against the PM’s visit.
In Rajampet in Kadapa district, left party activists staged a dharna holding empty pots and raised slogans against Mr Modi. In Addanki in Praksam district, Guntakal in Kurnool district and at other places in various districts, similar protests were organised registering protest against his visit.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked his cadre to register protest against Mr Modi’s visit tomorrow for not granting Special Category Status (SCS) to AP. The Left parties also asked their cadre to hold protest agitations today and tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a BJP delegation led by party National Secretary Y V Satya Kumar met DGP R P Thakur and complained him about the highly objectionable hoardings which were erected in and around the city, demeaning the institution of Prime Minister of India and urged the DGP to take steps to remove them.
