There is no practice of giving ticket after verifying DNA in BJP: Santhosh

Stoking a controversy over the denial of the party ticket to Tejasvini Ananthkumar, wife of Union Minister late Ananth Kumar, to contest from the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, Bharatiya Janata Party’s National Joint Secretary B L Santhosh said that ‘tickets will not be given on the basis of One’s DNA’.

The BJP leader, during an interaction meeting with the ‘intellectuals’ in the city on Thursday, said that “there is no doubt that Ananth Kumar had contributed a lot for the development of the party in Karnataka and the organisation will definitely recognize him”.

Stating that Tejasvini Ananthkumar has been appointed as the party’s State unit Vice President and she has an ample opportunity to come up, he said that “if party tickets are to be reserved to the kins of the family, how can we accommodate the workers” he questioned.

It may be recalled that the Central BJP leaders had turned down the recommendations of the State party unit to give party ticket to Tejasvini Ananthkumar widow of Ananth Kumar who had represented the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat for the record five consecutive times.

The BJP has nominated 28-year-old Tejasvi Surya, a Sangh Pariwar worker for the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha seat, which had caused heartburn to the supporters of Tejasvini Ananthkumar.
