Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam in Delhi to organise ‘Brahmotsavam’ from today

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Delhi will conduct a 11-day annual ‘Brahmotsavam’-a holy cleansing ceremony – from May 15 at Sri Venkateswara Swamyvari temple here, Andhra Pradesh Resident Commissioner Praveen Prakash said on Tuesday.

Addressing a press meet, Mr Prakash said,”elaborate arrangements have been made for devotees to witness the ‘vahana sevas’ and perform other pujas at the temple.” He urged the devotees to visit the temple and make donations for the temple’s survival.Spread across 1.2 Acres, the Delhi Temple of Lord Tirupati Balaji is located at the heart of the city.Brahmotsav is the most important festival celebrated in Tirumala as it marks Lord Srinivasa’s self-manifestation day by Lord Brahma. The annual Brahmotsav is conducted with the same fervor at the Delhi temple as is done in Tirumala in Tamil Nadu.
During the festival, the Utsav-murti (processional deity) of the presiding deity Lord Venkateswara (Tirupati Balaji), along with his consorts Padmavati Ammavaru (Mahalakshmi Maa) and Andal Ammavaru (Dharti Maa), is taken out on a procession on different Vahans on the streets around the Temple complex. The major highlights of the festival are Rath Yatra on different Vahans namely Pedda Sesha, Hamsa, Simha, Hanumantha , sun and moon amongst others.
This is the third temple of Lord Balaji in north India. The other two are located in Kurukshetra in Haryana and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand.
