Chennai; Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, DMK President M.K. Stalin and media organisations on Wednesday condoled the death of senior Tamil journalist P. Rajan.
Rajan who always put forward the interests of journalists, on Tuesday night passed away due to cardiac arrest.
An affable and helpful person, Rajan was survived by his wife and three daughters.
In his condolence message Palaniswami said Rajan had worked in newspapers like Dr Namathu MGR, Makkal Kural and Maalai Tamizhagam and had 20 years of media experience.
Expressing his grief at Rajan’s death, Palaniswami said the state government will pay the journalist’s family financial assistance as per the rules governing the scheme of assistance for the family of a journalist who dies during service.
DMK President Stalin in a statement expressing shock and grief over his death said it was Rajan who told all the journalists to take care during the Covid-19 pandemic.
