At least eight people were killed and one seriously injured when a tornado lashed a township in China’s southernmost island province of Hainan early Thursday morning, local authorities said.
The tornado hit Nada Township in the city of Danzhou at around 0400 hrs.
A workers’ shed in a construction site collapsed, killing eight people on the spot, Xinhua reported. One person suffered serious injuries and another person was slightly injured.
The administration has deployed search and rescue teams to the spot.
