Uttarakhand CM assures safe evacuation of pilgrims from Odisha

Assuring the people of Odisha of their fellow denizens’ safety, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat tweeted that has already issued orders for the safe evacuation of the Odia pilgrims stranded in Badrinath.

In the tweet, Rawat mentions, “I have issued orders for the safe evacuation of all the pilgrims of Odisha who are stranded here. We will take steps to ensure safety & security of everyone.”

The tweet came close on the heels of a letter that was written by Joint Commissioner of Relief Pravat Ranjan Mohapatra to the District Collector of Chamoli. In the letter, Mohapatra had sought support from the Uttarakhand Government to make necessary arrangements of the pilgrims’ safe journey back home.

Earlier today it was reported that as many as 42 pilgrims from Bhanjanagar in Ganjam have been left stranded in Uttarakhand due to intense snowfall. According to reports, the pilgrims were returning from Badrinath Dham after ‘darshan’, however extreme weather proved to be their enemy as the Bhanjanagar pilgrims have been left stranded with very little support.
