vijay shankar injured during nets

Ahead of India’s first World Cup warm-up match against New Zealand on Saturday, all-rounder Vijay Shankar has suffered an injury to his hand while batting in the nets.

Accoding to an ESPNcricinfo report, Vijay was hit on the forearm on Friday while attempting a pull against left-arm fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed who is traveling with the Indian squad as a net bowler.

The all-rounder immediately walked off the field in pain carrying two bats in his left hand.

Meanwhile, there has been no clarification yet from the BCCI on whether Vijay will be available or not for the warm-up match against New Zealand on Saturday.

Team India would hope that Vijay’s injury is not serious considering Kedar Jadhav who has yet not recovered completely after his injury in IPL 2019.

Earlier, Kedhar was retained in the 15-man squad by the selectors based on a positive assessment by team physiotherapist Patrick Farhart.

India will face New Zealand in their first warm-up match on Saturday and take on Bangladesh in Cardiff on Tuesday.
