Youth held, sent  to jail  for raping a minor girl

Kendrapara, A 22-year old man was arrested  by the  police on Sunday  on charges of raping a minor girl and was later sent to jail by the local court. The accused, identified as Panchanana Nath  of Palei village, lured  a seven-year-old girl with money to spend in Durga Puja and  raped  her, according  to Derabish police station IIC Umakant Nayak. The victim girl was on her way  to witness the Durga  puja pandal at Nalu Baba’s Ashram on Saturday afternoon on the occasion of Maha Saptami.

Panchanan lured the minor girl  to come with him and provide Rs 5 to  purchase chocolates.The minor girl went with Panchanan to his house where he raped her. The parents of the victim minor girl lodged an FIR at Derabish police station against Panchanan  after their daughter narrated the  incident to them.

Acting on the FIR, Derabish police registered a case under Section 376(A)(B) of IPC and Section 6 of POCSO Act  against Panchanan and arrested  him. He was produced before the SDJM court of Kendrapara  today and the  court remanded into jail custody after rejecting his bail plea, Mr. Nayak said.
