Ambani at PDEU Convocation: Shri Mukesh Ambani, President of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), delivered an inspiring address at the university’s 12th convocation ceremony, congratulating the graduating class of 2024 and urging them to play a pivotal role in India’s transition to a clean energy future.
Ambani lauded the students for their achievements and emphasized their responsibility towards shaping a sustainable and technologically advanced India. “Your energy is infectious, and the progress of student-led initiatives at PDEU is truly commendable. You have transformed this university into a hub of innovation and leadership,” he said.
Acknowledging Parents and Teachers
In his speech, Ambani extended heartfelt gratitude to the parents and teachers, acknowledging their unwavering support and guidance. “Today is the day their prayers are answered, their years of tapasya bear fruit,” he remarked, urging students to always appreciate their mentors and elders.
Praise for Chief Guest Uday Kotak
Welcoming the event’s Chief Guest, renowned banker Shri Uday Kotak, Ambani called him a beacon of inspiration for young entrepreneurs. “Uday Kotak is a self-made, first-generation entrepreneur who built Kotak Mahindra Bank from the ground up. His journey is a testament to India’s entrepreneurial spirit,” he noted.
Ambani also extended gratitude to key figures instrumental in PDEU’s progress, including Vice Chairman Shri Hasmukh Adhia, Standing Committee Chairperson Smt. Anita Karwal, and Director General Prof. Sundar Manoharan. He acknowledged the Gujarat government’s unwavering support, led by Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel.
Visionary Leadership of PM Narendra Modi
The convocation address paid special tribute to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, recognizing his foresight in establishing PDEU. “More than two decades ago, Narendra Bhai envisioned Gujarat leading the nation in energy and energy products. His vision gave birth to this university,” Ambani said, highlighting Modi’s commitment to India’s self-reliance in energy.
He further emphasized two key leadership lessons from Modi: the ability to turn ideas into action and boundless energy for work. “Modiji’s Sankalp (resolve) is always Vajra Sankalp (unbreakable determination), and his infinite energy is something we must all imbibe,” he stated.
Recognizing Excellence and Future Goals
Ambani applauded PDEU’s academic and research accomplishments, recognizing students and faculty members for their contributions to science and innovation. Notable achievements included doctoral students Naznin Shaikh and Nirav Prajapat securing the prestigious Prime Minister’s Fellowship, as well as breakthroughs in geothermal energy and green hydrogen research.
Calling upon PDEU to further elevate its role in research, Ambani set forth three expectations:
- Enhancing research quality, particularly in bio-energy.
- Strengthening national and global collaborations to bolster PDEU’s academic leadership.
- Leading in the convergence of Green Energy, Green Materials, and Artificial Intelligence.
