Chhattisgarh Government brings cheers to its forest dwellers

Raipur: After winning hearts of millions of farmers with his several farmers’ friendly development initiatives, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has now brought cheers to the innumerable forest dwellers of his state by increasing the number of minor forest produces (MFPs) procured by his government from seven to 52.

“As per the vision of Chief Minister and in the larger interest of forest dwellers, the state government has taken an important decision of increasing the number of minor forest produce procured at support price in Chhattisgarh”, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar stated.

The number has grown from just seven to 52 in the short span of two years, he added.

The new additions to the list of MFPs to be procured at support price by the state government include kusmi seed, dry reetha fruit, shikakai, satavar jad, kaju guthli, malkangani beej and mahul leaves.

Similarly, Pallas flower, dry white Musli, Indrajou, Patal Kumhara, Kutj, Ashwagandha, raw Amla, Sabai grass, Kanta jhadu, Tikhur, Behan Lakh-Kusumi, Behan Lakh, raw Bel and berries have also come under the support price index.

The MFPs which were being purchased at support price earlier included sal seed, harra, tamarind seeds, chironji kernels, mahua seeds, kusumi lac, rangini lac, kal megh, bahera, nagarmotha, kullu gond, and puwar.

The list further included bel guda, honey, kata jhadu and dry Mahua flower, dry Jamun seed, Kaunch seed, dry Dhawai flower, Karanja seed, Amla with seed, seedless flower tamarind, Giloy, Bhelwa, basil seed, cumin seed, Tamarind seed, Behera Kacharia, Harra Kacharia and Neem seed.

The state government has also been offering bonus in addition to the procurement of Kusumi Lakh, Rangini Lakh and Kullu Gond at the support price, the officials detailed.
