Dense fog engulfed large parts of northern India this morning, leading to significant disruptions in air and rail travel. The thick fog, which reduced visibility to near zero, has caused delays in flights and trains, affecting thousands of commuters.
At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, several flights were delayed due to poor visibility caused by the fog. Passengers were urged to contact airlines for the latest updates, as flight operations were severely affected, especially in the early hours of the morning. Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) advised travelers to check flight statuses before heading to the airport to avoid unnecessary inconveniences.
Indian Railways reported major delays, with as many as 49 Delhi-bound trains running up to four hours late. Trains like the Malwa Express, Farakka Express, Padmawat Express, and Rajdhani Express were among those affected. The Railway Ministry has advised passengers to stay updated on train schedules, as disruptions are expected to continue throughout the day.
The fog has also severely impacted road traffic in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, with vehicles moving at a slow pace as drivers struggled to navigate through the thick haze. The authorities have urged people to exercise caution while traveling, as the dense fog is expected to persist into the night and early morning hours over the next few days.
Both airlines and railways have issued advisories urging passengers to check the status of their travel before departure to minimize disruptions during this weather condition.
