Double-Line Flyover: The Government of India has sanctioned the Final Location Surveys (FLS) for two key railway projects in the country, aimed at improving rail infrastructure and boosting the efficiency of rail transportation. Among these, the Double Line Flyover/ROR (Road Over Bridge) at Lajkura, situated in Sundargarh District, Odisha, has received special attention.
Key Details of the Project:
* Project Name: Double Line Flyover/ROR at Lajkura
* Length: 10 km
* Cost of Survey: Rs. 20 Lakh
* State: Odisha (Lajkura Coal Mine area in Sundargarh District)
This important infrastructure initiative will significantly enhance railway capacity and operational efficiency in the region. Lajkura, strategically located near major coal mining areas like the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), plays a pivotal role in the transportation of coal.
The development of the double-line flyover will ensure smoother and more efficient movement of coal-laden trains to industrial hubs and ports across the country, further strengthening India’s energy supply chain.
The project is expected to reduce transportation bottlenecks, facilitating the timely and seamless delivery of coal, which is crucial to India’s energy production. By alleviating congestion and increasing the speed of coal transportation, the project will directly contribute to the local and national economy.
Additionally, this new flyover project will complement the Lajkura Rapid Loading System (RLS), which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in February 2024. The combined impact of these projects will help in achieving a more robust coal transportation network, supporting industrial growth and economic development in the region.
The sanctioned FLS marks an important step towards realizing this critical infrastructure project, which will benefit both the local community and the broader economy.
