Bhubaneswar: For excellence in safety practices, JSW Steel’s Jajang Mines has been awarded the prestigious Kalinga Safety Award-2021 in Gold category at the ongoing National Safety Conclave, Hotel New Marion, Bhubaneswar.
Associate Vice President Mines Akhilesh Kumar and Safety Head of Jajang MinesBasant Sahu received the award from Dr Surya Narayan Patra, Speaker of Odisha Assembly. Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Toufique Hasan was also present at the gala event. JSW’s Jajang Mines bagged the award under the diligent supervision of operation Head BRK Padhy.
Ranjan Nayak, Chief Operating Officer, JSW Odisha operations, congratulated the team and said “JSW is known for its innovation and sustainable practices and this award adds another feather in our cap.” He added that JSW Steel Ltd. will strive to better its performance every day with sustainability at its core. The company has always carried safety practices at its all units prioritizing the wellbeing of stakeholders.
‘Kalinga Safety Award’ is considered to be one of the most prestigious awards in India that recognizes exceptional contributions made by organizations in different categories such as Hazard Identification and Mitigation Plan, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in Safety, Emergency Response, etc. and awards industries who have displayed optimum excellence in their safety practices. It is to be noted that as an innovation, JSW’s mines in Odisha have successfully deployed online safety observation app to track unsafe action within the mining zone and address them in a timely manner.
