Mahakumbh Preparations: Demonstrating a firm commitment to enhancing passenger convenience and accessibility Indian Railways has announced a series of transformative measures said Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw in Parliament today.
To cater to the needs of economically weaker sections of society, 12,000 new general coaches have been introduced, significantly improving unreserved passenger travel. These coaches will provide greater accessibility and comfort, addressing the growing demand for affordable travel options.
In this regard East Coast Railway have attached 72 coaches in 43 rakes to further enhance rail capacity and convenience for passengers.
While replying in Parliament Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw said in preparation for the Mahakumbh, one of India’s largest spiritual and cultural gatherings, the Railways has planned to operate 13,000 special trains. These trains will ensure a smooth and efficient travel experience for millions of pilgrims, featuring enhanced scheduling, strategic routes, and improved station facilities.
Speaking about these developments, Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw remarked, “The introduction of these initiatives reflects our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of passengers, ensuring equitable access, and supporting the cultural heritage of our nation.”
The special trains for Mahakumbh will prioritize safety, comfort, and operational efficiency, with a strong focus on crowd management at key stations. These measures are expected to significantly ease the burden on the existing rail network during the event
