New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi inaugurated a three-day long Craft Mela today being organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, ICCR, in New Delhi. This fair is a part of the ongoing week-long celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by the Ministry of External Affairs which is being organised exclusively for the diplomatic community.
The inauguration marked the presence of about 70 to 75 heads of Foreign Missions in India and few Indian dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, Ms Lekhi said organising a Craft Mela which celebrates India’s arts and crafts is an apt way of celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
There are 22 craftsmen from 11 states are exhibiting bamboo art, textiles, traditional and folk art, beauty aromatics and recycled products and will give demonstrations of their skills or show videos to visitors.
