National Handloom Expo inaugurated at Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The art and culture of our country is famous in the world. The Odisha Handwoven has great contribution to country as well as world’s textiles. The Ikat (Bandha) weaving of Odisha has occupied a place of prominence in the map of Indian Textiles.

National Level Handloom Expo is organised with an aim to avail opportunity to sell the different handloom products of the country. It will also enable our state weavers to interact & exchange their skills and techniques involved, cost effectiveness, study the colour & design patterns prevailing in contemporary markets in different States.

Odisha State Handloom Weavers Co-op Society Ltd (Boyanika), the only apex society of the state for marketing of handwovens, is organising the 20th National Level Handloom Expo at Unit-III IDCO Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar from 11/09/23 to 08/10/23 for facilitating sustainable livelihood to the weavers of the different parts of the country as well as Odisha by providing a common platform for marketing their handloom products.

To-day i.e. on 11/09/23 at 7:00 P.M, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, IAS, Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Deptt., Govt. of Odisha inaugurated the Expo in presence of Padma Vibhusan Sri Sudarshan Sahoo, Indian Sculpture Artist, Smt. Pranati Chhotray, IAS, Managing Director, Boyanika, Sri Prakash Chandra Mehera, President, Boyanika and other officials.

This expo is sponsored by Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Deptt, Govt. of Odisha. Leading PWCS of our state, leading handloom organisations i.e. Apex & Corporations and major handloom clusters from different states of the country are participating in this Expo.

Around 170 participants from Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Maharasthra, Tamilnadu, Puduchery, Telengana, Bihar & Odisha have participated in this expo. The Expo will remain open from 11.30 A.M to 9.30 P.M daily. All ranges of handwovens of our country are available in this fair for our esteemed customers.

Boyanika is working as the implementing agency and committed for all round socio economic development of the weavers of the state. This organisation is implementing various developmental programmes for the welfare of weavers of the state.

Boyanika has been exploring every new horizon of marketing, for which the active co-operation of all media persons is highly solicited. The media intervention will certainly make this event a successful one like previous years.
