NITI Aayog Meet: At the 9th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Majhi extended heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for convening the high-level forum and providing states the platform to share their development journeys and jointly chart a roadmap for a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Condemning the Pahalgam Terror Attack and Backing National Unity

The Chief Minister began his address by condemning the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, and lauded the Centre’s decisive strategic response under Operation Sindoor. “Under your leadership, the nation stood united and strong,” he remarked, reaffirming Odisha\’s solidarity with national efforts.

Commendation for National Economic Growth and PM’s Commitment to Odisha

Highlighting India’s robust economic performance, he noted that the national economy grew at 6.5% in FY 2024-25, while Odisha, with the double engine push, achieved an impressive 7.2% growth. The CM expressed deep appreciation for the Prime Minister’s five visits to Odisha in the past 11 months, calling it a testament to the Centre\’s commitment to the state\’s development.

Major Infrastructure Boost

The CM thanked the Centre for sanctioning railway projects worth ₹73,000 crore, National Highways worth ₹4,600 crore, and pending approvals of another ₹17,500 crore worth of projects. He reaffirmed Odisha’s active participation in flagship central schemes like PM USHA, PM SHRI, Mamata-PMMVY, NEP 2020, and PMJAY.

Unveiling Vision 2036 and 2047 for Odisha

The Chief Minister revealed that Odisha’s Vision Document 2036 and 2047 – an inclusive, AI-analyzed plan shaped by over 3.2 lakh citizen suggestions – will be formally launched on June 12, 2025. The goal: transform Odisha into a $500 billion economy by 2036 and a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047, aligned with the Prime Minister’s mantra of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas.”

Strategic Development Plans

Key highlights of Odisha’s roadmap include:

  • 100% irrigation coverage and enhanced agricultural productivity
  • Port-based special economic zones to leverage the state’s coastline
  • Accelerated urbanization, targeting 40% by 2036 and 60% by 2047
  • Establishment of metropolitan region across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Paradip, and Puri
  • Boosting investment in textiles, food processing, ITeS, and frontier technologies
  • Strengthening skilling under the globally recognized “Skilled in Odisha” brand
  • Social Welfare and Governance Achievements

The Chief Minister outlined key achievements over the past year:

  • Citizen-centric governance through direct engagement with the public.
  • Recruitment drive to fill 1.5 lakh government posts over five years.
  • Strong fiscal discipline and quality public expenditure.
  • Successful rollout of Subhadra Yojana, reaching 1 crore women with direct benefits of over ₹10,000 crore.
  • Environmental conservation via the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign with 6.6 crore saplings planted.
  • Launch of Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya to revolutionize primary education.
  • Effective implementation of NEP 2020.
  • Statewide integration into Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY, covering over 1 crore families.
  • Make in Odisha and Utkarsh Odisha conclaves drew ₹16.73 lakh crore investment proposals.

Concluding his speech, the Chief Minister sought continued cooperation from the Government of India and all states, reiterating Odisha’s readiness to lead India’s next growth story. “मैं मानता हूँ ओडिशा के लिए यही समय है, सही समय है.” (I believe this is the right time for Odisha.)
