Vedanta Illegal Fly Ash Dumping: Odisha BJP MP Mr. Pradeep Purohit was angry about the illegal dumping of fly ash of Vedanta Jharsuguda Company. This Lok Sabha MP from Bargarh Constituency has demanded immediate action against the Vedanta. The fly ash of Vedanta Jharsuguda Power Plant is polluting the local environment. He has demanded that the central government should take immediately action against the Vedanta.
MP Pradeep has written this letter to Union Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change Mr. Bhupendar Jadev. He mentioned that the Vedanta Jharsuguda Company is dumping toxic ash illegally at various local places. The central government should form a high-level inquiry committee and study it. Mr. Purohit wrote in the letter that strict action should be taken against the Vedanta company.

He said that a thermal power plant of Vedanta Company is located in Jharsuguda district of Odisha. The company burns large amount of coal to generate power from this plant. The fly ash coming out of that coal and it is directed to company to be kept in a pond. But the transporting company of Vedanta is dumping the fly ash on the roadside. Even it has been noticed that ash is dumping in the nearest forests and rivers of the district, which is illegal.

He said, “According to environmentalists, this ash contains many chemicals like nickel, cadmium, antimony, arsenic, chromium and lead etc. Human beings and animals are likely to suffer from various diseases if they come in contact with it. Thus, Shri Purohit has informed the Center to take strict action against the Vedanta Company and the transport company. It is even said that he will go to Delhi and meet the Union Minister and discuss against the illegal dumping fly ash of Vedant Jharsuguda company.
Before that there also complain against Vedant Lanjigarh Company regarding the red mud pond collapsed issue. Local Bhawanipatna MLA Sagar Das also complained to the Chief Minister of Odisha to take action against Vedanta Company for polluting the local environment. Now Vedanta is the main targeting company of the state political leaders.
