BHUBANESWAR: While Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota was the star attraction of the inaugural evening, Odissi music was the principal attraction of the second evening of the ongoing Guru Debaprasad Award Festival staged at Rabindra Mandap here on Sunday.
The three-day festival is being hosted by city-based Tridhara dance institution curated by Tridhara director and Odissi guru Gajendra Kumar Panda.
The first presentation of the evening was a group Odissi dance recital by the artistes of Kala Vikash Kendra, Cuttack. They staged “Bighna Binashana” choreographed by Gajendra Kumar Panda and scripted by Nityananda Mishra with music composition by Prafulla Kar.
It was followed by Chhau dance by Odissi dancer’s duo Prativa Panda with daughter Aditi Panda.
The third concert of the evening was solo Tabla recital by Subhasish Das.
Odissi vocal recital was the concluding concert of the evening that featured stalwarts Shyamamani Pattanayak, Gopal Chandra Panda and Damodar Hota. Panda was accompanied by his daughter and gifted vocalist Sangeeta Panda.
