Bhubaneswar: In a bid to strengthen the management of Lingaraj temple affairs, Odisha Government has come up with an ordinance that delegates power to a Committee to decide the matters related to the famed 11th century Shiva temple in Odisha’s capital city.

“The proposed Ordinance is to provide for vesting of the management of Shri Lingaraj temple and its properties including temples situated within its premises, other temples, sacred places and Maths in a Committee for a better administration and governance,” a Law Department release stated.
This will result in better and proper management of the affairs of the temple besides providing better facilities to the pilgrims, devotees and worshippers, it added.
This will also empower the Committee to safeguard the properties of the temple, the release mentioned.
Detailed provisions have been made in the ordinance covering all relevant aspects such as the constitution of the Managing Committee, its composition, Administrator’s responsibilities and powers, maintenance and management of movable and immovable properties of the temple, role and responsibility of the servitors, constitution of the temple fund and its management, the Law department clarification elaborated.
