Chhattisgarh CM seeks Central assistance for better Covid care

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has requested the Centre to sanction Rs 736.74 crore for better management of the State’s Covid-care programmes.

The CM has already written to Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan for immediate release of the funds.

While acknowledging the technical guidance and assistance provided by the Central Government to combat the pandemic in his state, Mr.Baghel, in his letter, has mentioned that the Department of Health and Family Welfare of Chhattisgarh had demanded Rs 821.93 crore for operating its Covid hospitals and Covid care centers.  However, Rs 85.19 crore has been received by his government so far.

“I request you to sanction the remaining amount of Rs 736.74 crore as soon as possible so that all the necessary resources can be arranged in time”, the Chief Minister has mentioned in his letter.

Appreciating the commendable services provided by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur in treatment of Covid patients, the Chief Minister has stressed on the urgent need to increase the number of available ICU beds to 200 in AIIMS Raipur.

The state has 29 dedicated hospitals and 221 Covid care centres with provision of 29,111 hospital beds.
