PM Modi in UK

PM Modi in UK: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and vibrant welcome from the Indian diaspora in London, marked by a colorful showcase of cultural performances from various Indian states, including Assam, Gujarat, Bihar, and Odisha.

DD India Correspondent spoke to one of the groups that performed a traditional drum and tasha routine to greet the Prime Minister.

One of the performers shared, “The piece we played is called Nashik Dhol. It’s very traditional, usually played in India during the Ganpati festival. These are dhols, these are tashas. We trained for two months just to perform here. It’s very intense practice.”

Another member of the group added, “It was indeed a great experience. As she mentioned, we’ve been practicing hard for this very event to perform in front of the Prime Minister. It is a very joyous occasion, and we are truly proud that we could showcase our local art in front of him and everyone here. The audience really enjoyed it—it was a lovely experience.”

Speaking about Prime Minister Modi, one performer said, “I think him coming towards us, waving at us, appreciating the energy we brought—that had a great impact. We are very proud to have PM Modi in the UK. He’s a super Prime Minister. He has done a lot of work for India, and we really are proud of him.”
