Bhubaneswar: Check Post, a Hindi film made by Bhubaneswar-based Golden Tringle Production, has been shortlisted by the Film Federation of India to be nominated for Academy Awards.
British-Iranian filmmaker Hassan Nazer has directed the movie whose film Utopia was selected for Oscar in 2015.
Nazer is a British-Iranian film director, film editor, producer and a jury member of several international film festivals. He was the head of the Jury of the SAARC Film Festival, 2019 hosted in Sri Lanka.
He studied at the University in Tehran and after moving to UK, he studied cinema at the University of Aberdeen. Utopia, his third film, was selected as the Afghan entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.
Check Post is screen adaptation of the book bearing the same title and penned by Priyaranjan Sahoo of Odisha who has also been featured in the film as its protagonist namely Ranjan.
The film further features Bollywood actress Krishna Goutam, Malayalam cine actress Dhanya Ananya and Odisha’s child actor Aiswarya Mishra.
The film revolved round the dreams and disillusionment of a young journalist turned social activist who also attempted to be in politics.
