IMPHAL: The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mumbai’s Film Heritage Foundation for setting up a film archive of Manipuri cinema here.

The state government is committed to set up the film archive to save the cinematic heritage of Manipur, MSFDS secretary Sunzu Bachaspatimayum stated.

Bachaspatimayum signed the MoU with FHF’s founder-director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur on Saturday.

Mumbai-based FHF – that supports conservation, preservation, and restoration of film heritage in India – will provide technical and intellectual consultancy and support to MSFDS in starting the archive.

Special attention will be paid to restoration, preservation and digitization of the cinematic heritage of Manipur, Bachaspatimayum added.

The state is celebrating the golden jubilee of Manipuri cinema this week.
