JNU row: Meeting held between Students & High power committee

New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI) Agitating students of Jawaharlal Nehru University on Wednesday met the MHRD appointed High Power Committee to seek solutions to the current issues including their demand of total rollback of the hike in hostel fees.

“The High Power Committee of MHRD met the #JNU students today and took stock of views of students in a cordial meeting at Shastri Bhawan. They agreed to meet the students again on Friday in JNU campus to find solutions to the current issues,” the Ministry’s official Twitter account said.

“The Committee appealed to the students to restore normalcy on the campus immediately for which the students responded positively,” it added.

A three-member committee was appointed on Monday to recommend ways to restore normal functioning of JNU.

The panel included former UGC Chairman VS Chauhan, AICTE chairman Anil Sahasrabudhe and UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain.

The committee was formed with a view to initiate dialogue with the students and university administration immediately and submit recommendations on actions to be taken.
