Annual Bird Census: The annual bird census in Lake Chilika is ongoing today. From 6 am to 12 noon today, 21 teams are deployed in the areas of Satpada, Rambha, Balugaon, Tangi, Mangalajodi, Nalabana and Nuapada under the Chilika Wildlife Division.
The teams are including wildlife department staff, forest department staff, OUAT students, wildlife activists from Wild Odisha and Wildes, members of three bird protection committees under the Tangi Range and BNHS. Chilika Wildlife DFO Amlan Nayak expects that the arrival of migratory birds will increase in Chilika this year as the severity of winter is more than last year
