Bangladesh Violence: Director General of BSF Daljit Singh Chawdhary today reviewed the security and operational preparedness along the 856 Km long Indo-Bangla international border in Tripura. Coming on a day’s visit to the state, amidst the ongoing turmoil in neighbouring Bangladesh, he chaired a meeting with high officials of the BSF at the Frontier headquarters at Salbagan in Agartala.  Mr. Chawdhary applauded the tireless efforts of the paramilitary force in safeguarding the border by preventing any kind of infiltration and trans-border crimes.

During his short visit here today, Mr. Chawdhary also met the Director General of Tripura Police, Amitabh Ranjan and DG Intelligence Anurag Dhankar.

Meanwhile, the BSF in a joint operation with Tripura Police apprehended 11 Bangladeshi Nationals who had crossed over to the Indian side illegally on the intervening night of 6th and 7th August.

A BSF press statement said that contraband substances to the tune of 72 lakhs were recovered which also includes 10 thousand Yaba tablets to the tune of Rs. 50 lakh.
