Kashmir Police Conduct Raids: In one of the largest coordinated operations in recent years, police in south and north Kashmir today have raided more than 225 locations linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). The crackdown, carried out in Kulgam and Sopore districts, is part of a wider campaign to dismantle terrorist and separatist support networks.
Officials said Kulgam Police alone conducted searches at over 200 sites, targeting homes and premises of JeI members and their associates. During the past four days, around 400 cordon and search operations have been launched across the district, focusing on areas once associated with terrorist activity and Over Ground Workers (OGWs).
Nearly 500 individuals with suspected links to banned organisations such as JeI and JKNOPs have been interrogated, with many detained under preventive laws and shifted to District Jail Mattan in Anantnag. Police also seized incriminating documents, digital devices, and other materials of evidentiary value.
In a parallel operation, Sopore Police carried out simultaneous raids at more than 25 locations in Sopore, Zaingeer, and Rafiabad areas. Acting on intelligence inputs suggesting efforts to revive JeI activities under new fronts, police recovered documents, gadgets, and printed material related to the group.
Authorities described the operations as preventive and intelligence-driven, aimed at dismantling ideological and logistical networks that fuel terrorism. Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards terrorist, asserting that no individual or organisation would be allowed to disturb peace or exploit locals for anti-national activities.
