Washington: US First Lady Melania Trump used a private email account linked to the Trump Organization while in the White House, a former adviser has revealed.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, also a close friend who is coming out with her tell-all memoir, “Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship with the First Lady”, said she and the First Lady corresponded multiple times a day.
“Melania and I both didn’t use White House emails,” The Hill news website quoted Wolkoff as saying in a Washington Post interview published on Tuesday night.
The private account was from a MelaniaTrump.com email domain.
In some of her mails sent via the private account, Trump discussed topics like government hires and contracts; schedules for her and the President; and her Be Best initiative.
The First Lady is the latest White House official to receive flak for using private email, The Hill news website reported.
Senior White House advisers, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, also the President’s daughter and son-in-law, were investigated for their use of private accounts for government business.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross was also found to have used private email.
