PM Modi Warns Pakistan: In a powerful address to the nation on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the Indian Armed Forces for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory military strike against terrorist hideouts in Pakistan. The Prime Minister hailed the bravery and strategic acumen of India’s armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists, calling the operation a “new benchmark” in India’s counter-terrorism policy.
Tribute to Armed Forces and Martyrs
Beginning his address with a salute to the “valiant forces of India,” PM Modi paid homage to the courage and valor displayed during the recent military action. “I dedicate this valour to every mother, every sister, and every daughter of the country,” he said, emphasizing national unity and the emotional resonance of the operation’s name — ‘Sindoor’ — symbolizing dignity and respect for Indian women.
Background: The Pahalgam Terror Attack
The Prime Minister condemned the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where innocent civilians were killed in a brutal act of religiously motivated violence. “It was a disgusting attempt to break the harmony and unity of the country,” he said, describing it as a turning point that united the nation in demanding justice.
Operation Sindoor: A Calculated and Decisive Response
PM Modi detailed the precision strikes carried out late on May 6 and into the early hours of May 7, which targeted major terrorist training camps in Pakistan, including those in Bahawalpur and Muridke. These locations have long been associated with international terrorism, including the 9/11 attacks and the London Tube bombings, he noted.
“More than 100 dreaded terrorists were neutralized. Several top leaders of terrorist organizations, who had been operating with impunity for decades, were eliminated in one stroke,” the Prime Minister declared.
Pakistan’s Retaliation and India’s Counter-Defense
Following India’s strikes, Pakistan attempted to retaliate by targeting civilian areas, including schools, colleges, and places of worship. However, India’s air defense systems intercepted and neutralized most of the incoming threats.
“Our missiles and drones not only struck with precision but also shattered the morale of Pakistan’s armed forces. Their prized airbases suffered heavy damage,” PM Modi said. The Pakistani military reportedly sought de-escalation on May 10, contacting India’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) after facing significant losses.
A New Doctrine Against Terrorism
Declaring Operation Sindoor as a new chapter in India’s security doctrine, the Prime Minister outlined three key pillars of the country’s revised stance:
- Swift and decisive retaliation to any terror attacks on Indian soil.
- No tolerance for nuclear blackmail, with India ready to strike at terrorist infrastructure despite nuclear threats.
- No distinction between terrorist organizations and the state that sponsors them, as evidenced by Pakistani military officials reportedly honoring slain terrorists.
“The world has seen the face of state-sponsored terrorism,” Modi said. “We will take decisive steps to protect our citizens.”
‘Made in India’ Weapons Prove Their Mettle
The Prime Minister highlighted the success of indigenous defense equipment used during the operation, signaling a new era in India’s defense capabilities. “In 21st-century warfare, the time has come for Made in India defense equipment to take the lead,” he said.
Global Message and Call for Unity
PM Modi reiterated that India\’s policy with Pakistan remains unchanged: “Terror and talks cannot go together. Terror and trade cannot go together. Water and blood cannot flow together.”
He also made it clear that any future dialogue with Pakistan would only focus on terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Concluding Message on Buddha Purnima
The Prime Minister concluded his address with a message of peace rooted in strength, drawing inspiration from Lord Buddha. “The path of peace also goes through power. And in the last few days, India has done just that.”
He once again saluted the armed forces and urged the citizens to stay united in the fight against terrorism, emphasizing that a strong India is essential for a peaceful and prosperous future.
