Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha: The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be held over three days from January 8 to 10. The state government is fully prepared to make this event highly attractive and successful.

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed the preparations at Lok Seva Bhavan. During the review, the Chief Minister stated that this is the first time since its inception in 2003 that Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is being organized in Odisha.

He emphasized that this event is a golden opportunity to establish Odisha’s prominence on the global stage. The Prime Minister has also laid significant importance on this event. Therefore, the Chief Minister advised organizing it in an extraordinary and flawless manner to enhance Odisha’s image globally.

The Chief Minister particularly stressed the importance of cleanliness in the city. He emphasized that Bhubaneswar’s cleanliness should meet international standards. For this purpose, he suggested launching an independent cleanliness campaign in the city. Additionally, he recommended involving local residents in the festival.

From the review, it has been revealed that the event’s schedule includes the presence of the Minister of External Affairs on January 8, the Prime Minister on January 9, and the President on January 10.

During the event, Plenary Sessions will be held on topics such as “Unraveling India’s Best Kept Secret” and “Odisha – the Land of Opportunities.” Additionally, various aspects of Odisha’s historical glory, art, sculpture, music, dance, tribal culture, language, literature, and tourist destinations will be showcased through digital and other mediums.

The vision for Odisha, keeping in mind the milestones of 2036 and 2047, will also be presented.

Preparation Highlights:

  • Illumination and decoration of the city.
  • Hotel bookings and home-stay arrangements for over 7,500 delegates.
  • Enhancement of tourist destinations in Bhubaneswar, Puri, Konark, Jajpur, and others.
