Continuing with its series of initiatives to safeguard income of the tribal people amidst the ongoing troubles times of pandemic, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs has launched Tribes-India on Wheels programmes.

Under the programme, TRIFED would provide direct-to-home delivery of the exclusive range of organic products being marketed through its country-wide Tribes-India outlets by mobile vans.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda flagged off Tribes-India On Wheels mobile van service on Wednesday that was launched in 31 cities across the country.

The cities include Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jagdalpur, Mumbai and Ranchi.

For Covid-19, people are focusing more on healthier ways of living while staying as safe as possible. Hence there has been a greater demand for essential natural immunity-boosting products. The mobile marketing service would help the people to shop the wide range of such products at their doorsteps without stepping out, the Ministry has maintained.

The range of natural and immunity-boosting tribal products include organic haldi, dry amla, wild honey, black pepper, ragi, triphala, and lentil mixes such as moong dal, urad dal and white beans.

Customers would be offered the same amount of discount on the purchase as they were getting at the Tribes-India outlets, TRIFED has announced.

All the sales proceeds from the programme would do directly to the tribals who are the producers, thereby sustaining their income and livelihoods during the ongoing period of distressed sale, it added.

Prior to launch of the country-wide mobile van service, TRIFED launched direct sale of Tribes-India products through e-commerce platforms in collaboration with major players like Amazon, Flipkart and GeM apart from marketing through Tribes-India’s website.
