All India Sainik Schools: Sainik School Bhubaneswar, one of the premier CBSE residential schools under the Ministry of Defence, proudly inaugurated the All India Sainik Schools Inter Group Football Tournament 2025 today. The event, which brings together the finest young footballers from the Sainik School network across India, is scheduled from 7th to 15th June 2025.
The Opening Ceremony, held in the majestic campus grounds of the host institution, was graced by Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister of Sports and Youth Services, Government of Odisha, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Shri Suraj commended the Sainik School system for nurturing not just academic excellence but also sporting spirit, discipline, and leadership among India’s future defence personnel. He also lauded Sainik School Bhubaneswar for its excellent preparations and warm hospitality.
The championship will witness 24 teams from various Sainik Schools and SBVM Sainik School , who emerged as champions in their respective intra-group football tournaments, vying for national honours in three categories:
Sub-Junior Boys (Under-15)
Junior Boys (Under-17)
Junior Girls (Under-17)
The winners in their respective categories will represent Sainik Schools in Subroto Cup International Tournament 2025.The event is not only a celebration of sporting talent but also of unity, teamwork, and national integration, as cadets from across the country participate in a spirit of healthy competition and camaraderie.
In his welcome address, Colonel Pankaj Kumar, Principal of Sainik School Bhubaneswar, expressed his pride in hosting this prestigious event and emphasized the role of sports in shaping character and resilience in young cadets.
The opening match showcased impressive skills and sportsmanship, setting the tone for an exciting week of football ahead.
With matches scheduled throughout the week, the finals in each category will be held on 15th June, followed by the closing ceremony and prize distribution.
