Chenab Bridge: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the country, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, is now connected through the railway network. Mr. Modi made this statement after inaugurating the Chenab Bridge and Anji Khad Bridge today in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. He also laid the foundation stone, inaugurated, and dedicated to the nation multiple development projects worth over 46,000 crore rupees.
Addressing the gathering, he said these development projects will provide fresh momentum to the progress of Jammu and Kashmir. He described Jammu and Kashmir as the crown jewel of India, adding that the Chenab and Anji bridges will serve as gateways to prosperity for J&K. The Prime Minister added that, unfortunately, our neighbouring country is against humanity and even the livelihood of the poor.
He cited the incident in Pahalgam on 22 April as an example. Mr. Modi said Pakistan attacked both insaniyat and Kashmiriyat in Pahalgam, targeting the tourism sector that provides livelihood to many Kashmiri families. The Prime Minister said today’s programme is a huge celebration of India’s unity and willpower. He noted that the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line project is not just a name, but the identity of the new strength of Jammu and Kashmir and a proclamation of India’s growing power.
He stated that the Chenab Bridge is even higher than the Eiffel Tower, and both the Chenab and Anji bridges are living symbols of India’s engineering prowess in the inaccessible hills of the Pir Panjal range. He described them as the roar of India’s bright future. He added that Kashmir’s apples will now be able to reach major markets across the country at a lower cost and in less time.
Mr. Modi also announced that J&K has received two new Vande Bharat trains today, and reiterated that the 46,000 crore rupees worth of development projects will accelerate the region’s progress. The Prime Minister said the dream of lakhs of people in J&K has now been fulfilled. He also released commemorative coins and stamps after inaugurating the Chenab and Anji bridges.
