Commissioner of Railway Safety

Commissioner of Railway Safety: The newly laid second line between Baiguda and Kakiriguma stations (12.385 km) on the Koraput–Singapur Road Doubling Project under the Rayagada Division of East Coast Railway has been commissioned following the statutory inspection conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, Shri Brijesh Kumar Mishra.

The CRS carried out a detailed inspection of the newly constructed doubling section on 9th and 10th July 2026, examining various aspects of track geometry, bridges, signalling and telecommunication systems, overhead electrification installations, and other safety related infrastructure. The inspection also included a comprehensive motor trolley inspection of the entire section and speed trials.

The commissioning of the Baiguda–Kakiriguma doubling section is another major milestone in the ongoing Koraput–Singapur Road Doubling Project, which is aimed at enhancing line capacity, improving operational efficiency, facilitating smoother movement of freight and passenger trains, and strengthening rail connectivity in the region.

The inspection was attended by senior officers from East Coast Railway Headquarters, the Rayagada Division and the Construction Organisation.

The successful commissioning of this section reflects East Coast Railway‘s continued commitment to strengthening rail infrastructure and delivering capacity enhancement projects in a time bound manner. The project will improve operational efficiency, augment freight and passenger train operations, and provide safer, faster and more reliable rail services, while supporting the growing transportation needs of the region.
