Cyclone Montha: Authorities remain on high aleart as latest observations indicates that the landfall process of Cyclone Montha has commenced over the Andhra Pradesh coast. The landfall process is expected to continue for the next 3 to 4 hours.
The severe storm is anticipated to bring heavy rains, strong winds and high tides, impacting parts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and northern Tamil Nadu.
Authorities have issued alerts and are ensuring extensive preparedness to ensure public safety. The Deputy Director of the Visakhapatnam Cyclone Warning Centre, SVVJ Kumar, said that all the requisite information has been shared with the authorities to minimise cases of mishappenings.
The National Disaster Response Force has been actively monitoring the situation. A total of 26 NDRF teams have been deployed in active operations while 19 teams are kept in reserve across the states expected to bear the maximum brunt.
