Divya Kala Mela: The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) hosted the grand cultural program ‘Divya Kala Shakti’ at the iconic Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The event spotlighted the remarkable talents and cultural contributions of Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) on a national stage.

The 11-day Divya Kala Mela, held from December 12–22, 2024, concluded with record-breaking sales of over ₹3.5 crores, celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit and craftsmanship of Divyang artisans. Outstanding stalls and entrepreneurs were recognized with prestigious awards for their exceptional contributions. The closing ceremony was attended by Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, DEPwD, and Smt. Richa Shankar, Deputy Director General, alongside senior officials of the department.

Government’s Commitment to Empowerment

Shri Rajesh Aggarwal praised the participating artists and remarked, “Divyangjan are setting benchmarks in entrepreneurship and other fields. The government remains deeply committed to their economic, social, and educational empowerment.”

Marking another milestone, the National Divyangjan Finance and Development Corporation (NDFDC) unveiled its new mobile app, enhancing access to financial support for Divyang entrepreneurs and individuals.

The event enthralled audiences with vibrant performances, including dance, music, painting, and theater by Divyang artists from across the country. These exceptional displays of talent not only captivated the attendees but also emphasized the importance of fostering an inclusive and sensitive society.
