New Delhi, Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with simplicity and solemnity across the country today amidst corona virus pandemic. There will be no mass congregations at Eidgahs and Grand Mosques in compliance with Covid guidelines.
Several Muslim clerics, scholars and Muslim organizations including Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Syyed Ahmed Bukhari and Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Mosque, Mufti Mukarram Ahmed have appealed to people to offer Eid prayers at their homes adhering Covid norms. They have urged the people to maintain social distancing and avoid traditional greetings of hugging each other to protect themselves as well as others in current pandemic situation.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated at the culmination of fasting month of Ramzan. In Kerala and Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir, Eid was celebrated yesterday.
