Falaknuma Express: Passengers of Train No. 12704 Secunderabad-Howrah Falaknuma Express faced anxious moments early this morning after a coach parting incident occurred between Sumadevi and Mandasa Railway Stations in the Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR).
According to railway officials, the train parted at 7:09 AM between the A-1 (AC coach) and M-6 coaches, near Sumadevi Railway Station. The incident happened while the train was en route to Howrah.
Upon receiving the alert, railway authorities acted swiftly. The parted coaches were re-coupled, and the entire train was brought to Mandasa Railway Station for thorough safety checks. As a precautionary measure, the affected A-1 coach was detached from the train. Passengers from the A-1 coach were accommodated in other available coaches to ensure their onward journey.
The train resumed its journey from Mandasa Road Station at 10:23 AM after completing necessary safety checks.
Additionally, vendors at key stations, including Ichhapuram and Brahmapur, were instructed to ensure the availability of adequate drinking water and snacks for passengers across all coaches.
To further facilitate passenger comfort, an additional AC 2-tier coach was attached to the train at Bhubaneswar Railway Station. Following the coach replacement, the train departed from Bhubaneswar at 3:20 PM, with all passengers boarding smoothly.
