Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Jayanti: The 78th birth anniversary of legendary Odissi maestro, visionary cultural ambassador and Padma Shri awardee Guru Dr. Gangadhar Pradhan will be celebrated with grandeur in Bhubaneswar on July 10.
The programme is being jointly organised by the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre, Bhubaneswar, and the Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Foundation, Konark Natya Mandap, to honour Guru Dr. Pradhan’s immense contribution to the promotion of Odissi dance and Odisha’s cultural heritage across the globe.
The celebration reflects Guru Dr. Pradhan’s vision of making Odisha a land of year-round cultural festivals. His oft-quoted dream—“365 days and 365 festivals”—continues to inspire the state’s cultural movement and the preservation of its rich artistic traditions.
Former Judge of the Orissa High Court Justice C. R. Dash, will attend the programme as the Chief Guest. Former Doordarshan Director and renowned Odissi exponent Dipty Mishra and former Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Secretary Chittaranjan Malliya will join as Guests of Honour. Sitanshu Mohan Dwivedi, Chairman of the Odisha State Bar Council, will deliver the keynote address.
The cultural programme will feature a flute recital by Soumya Ranjan Joshi, an Odissi duet by Guru Dr. Manoranjan Pradhan and Minati Pradhan, and a traditional tribal dance presentation by Jeypore Kalakendra from Koraput.
The event will be compered by Hrusikesh Panigrahi and Sudipta Panigrahi.
Organisers said the celebration will pay tribute to Guru Dr. Gangadhar Pradhan’s enduring legacy in Odissi dance, cultural education and institution building. Through classical music, Odissi performances, scholarly deliberations and tribal dance, the programme aims to showcase Odisha’s vibrant artistic heritage while reaffirming the Guru’s lifelong commitment to preserving and promoting Indian culture.
