Gutipua Dance Festival Begins in Bhubaneswar

Gutipu Dance Festival: The state-level Gutipua Dance Festival has begun at the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre in Bhubaneswar from today. In collaboration with the Odissi Research Centre, Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy and Folklore Association, this state-level dance festival will be held till September 1st in accordance with the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department.

20 dance groups have participated in this state-level Gutipua Dance Festival. Dancer Aruna Mohanty, Ileana Sitarist, Guru Ramahri Das, Dr. Chittaranjan Mallia, Guru Gobind Gopal, Odissi Singer Dr. Sangeeta Gosain, Secretary of Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy Dr. Chandra Shekhar Hota, Deputy Director of Culture Department Smt. Sichismita Mantri were present in today’s program.

“Gotipua is an integral part of our Odia culture. Through the organization of the state-level Gotipua Dance Festival, our traditional dance is being promoted and disseminated along with the development of dance talent,” said Smt. Suchismita Mantri, Deputy Director, Culture Department.

A seminar was held on “Singing and Performing Gotipua”. On the first day, dancers from Chandrashekhar Gotipua Kala Sansada, Kailash Gotipua Dance Institute, Ma’ Ashtabhuja Gotipua Kala Parishad, Murchhana Gotipua, Baba Gorekhanath Gotipua Dance Association, Ma Santoshi Gotipua, Bankeswari Gotipoo Dance Parishad, etc. performed Gotipua dance.
