Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) successfully hosted the two-day International Conference on Empowering Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Management (ICEWSTEAM 2025). The conference was organized in collaboration with the World Forum for Women in Science (WFWS) and Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), with the aim of fostering leadership, innovation, and inclusion of women in STEAM disciplines.
The event commenced with a traditional Lamp Lighting and Saraswati Vandana, symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom. The inaugural ceremony was graced by eminent dignitaries including Prof. N. N. Sharma, President, MUJ; Prof. Kuldip Singh Sangwan, Dean, Faculty of Science, Technology, and Architecture (FoSTA); and Prof. Ashima Bagaria, Associate Dean, School of Physical and Biological Sciences, who also served as the Conference Chair. The conference was convened by Dr. Veena Dhayal, Dr. Neha Chaudhary, and Dr. Monika Saini.
The highlight of the inaugural session was a Plenary Talk by Padma Shri Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, President, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), on “What Makes S&T Work?” His insightful address emphasized the synergy between creativity, curiosity, and collaboration in driving scientific progress.
Distinguished keynote speakers—Prof. Angela Liberatore from the European University Institute, Prof. Mary B. Chan-Park from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, and Prof. Devika Sangwan from BITS Pilani—delivered inspiring talks focusing on science diplomacy, leadership, and gender equity. Their sessions underlined the critical role of women in shaping global scientific discourse and innovation.
The second day of ICEWSTEAM 2025 continued with the theme “STEM ke Rang, Nari ke Sang”, featuring engaging discussions, research presentations, and interactive sessions. Eminent academicians, industry professionals, and researchers shared insights into the evolving role of women in advancing interdisciplinary research and innovation.
Several technical sessions were conducted, providing a vibrant platform for young researchers and scholars to present their work across diverse domains of science, technology, engineering, and management. The discussions fostered mentorship, collaboration, and networking among participants, aligning with MUJ’s vision of nurturing inclusive excellence in education and research.
The conference concluded with a valedictory session and award ceremony, celebrating the achievements of participants. The Best Presenter Awards, sponsored by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Institute of Physics (IOP), were conferred upon young researchers for their outstanding presentations and contributions to their respective fields.
ICEWSTEAM 2025 concluded on a note of inspiration and renewed commitment toward empowering women in STEAM. The event reaffirmed Manipal University Jaipur’s dedication to advancing gender equity, promoting scientific excellence, and building a collaborative global platform for innovation and leadership.
