Mann Ki Baat 121: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in the 121st episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat‘ today, expressed deep anguish over the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Addressing the nation, the Prime Minister said that the incident, which took place on April 22, has wounded the heart of every Indian and stirred deep anger across the country.

“The enemies of the nation and of Jammu and Kashmir cannot tolerate the progress, peace, and prosperity returning to the Valley. Their cowardice stands exposed through this heinous act,” the Prime Minister said, reaffirming the nation’s solidarity and assuring that the perpetrators and conspirators would face the harshest punishment. He added that global leaders have conveyed their strong condemnation of the attack and expressed solidarity with India.

Tribute to Dr. K. Kasturirangan

The Prime Minister also paid homage to renowned space scientist Dr. K. Kasturirangan, who passed away recently. Recalling his invaluable contributions to India’s space program and education reforms, PM Modi noted, “Under his leadership, ISRO gained new heights, and India’s space ambitions found global recognition. His role in shaping the National Education Policy has left a lasting impact.”

Celebrating 50 Years of Aryabhata Satellite Launch

Highlighting the 50th anniversary of India’s first satellite, Aryabhata, launched in 1975, the Prime Minister lauded the indomitable spirit of Indian scientists. “From carrying equipment on bullock carts to becoming a Global Space Power, India’s space journey is a story of dedication and perseverance,” he remarked, mentioning upcoming missions like Gaganyaan, SpaDeX, Chandrayaan-4, and the Venus Orbiter Mission.
Operation Brahma: India’s Humanitarian Effort in Myanmar

PM Modi also spoke of India’s swift humanitarian response after the recent earthquake in Myanmar, lauding the success of Operation Brahma. “Our teams set up field hospitals, supplied critical aid, and rescued many trapped under debris, including a 70-year-old woman,” he stated, highlighting India’s commitment to the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’.

India’s Global Humanitarian Outreach

Expanding on India’s humanitarian efforts, the Prime Minister mentioned the support extended to Ethiopia for children with congenital heart diseases, as well as vaccine shipments to Afghanistan and Nepal, reinforcing India’s role as a “Vishwa Mitra” (global friend) in times of need.

Launch of ‘Sachet’ Mobile App for Disaster Preparedness

The Prime Minister introduced the ‘Sachet’ mobile application developed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The app aims to alert users in real-time about natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, cyclones, and more, available in multiple regional languages.

Rise of Science and Innovation Among Youth

PM Modi hailed the growing enthusiasm for science among India’s youth, citing examples such as the new Science Centre in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh, and the Science Galleries at Gujarat Science City. “Even regions once associated with unrest are now brimming with scientific spirit,” he said.
‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign and Green Initiatives

Celebrating the success of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, which has seen over 140 crore trees planted across India, the Prime Minister urged citizens to continue planting trees. He praised Ahmedabad’s extensive afforestation efforts and its growing resilience to climate change.

Innovations in Agriculture: Apples in Karnataka, Saffron in Kerala

Highlighting agricultural innovations, PM Modi shared inspiring stories of farmers growing apples in Karnataka’s plains and saffron cultivation in Kerala’s Wayanad through advanced techniques like aeroponics. He also praised successful litchi cultivation efforts in Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan.

Remembering India’s Freedom Struggle

Reflecting on historical milestones, the Prime Minister recalled the Champaran Satyagraha of 1917 led by Mahatma Gandhi, as well as the Dandi March and Jallianwala Bagh massacre — key events in India’s independence movement. He also paid tribute to Babu Veer Kunwar Singh, a hero of the 1857 First War of Independence.
