Menstrual Health and Hygiene: IIT Bhubaneswar is set to host a pioneering Conclave on Menstrual Health & Hygiene on 28th May 2025 at its Argul Campus Auditorium. The event is being organized under the “Project Period: Sanitation, Health & Hygiene, and Environment (SHE)” initiative by IIT Bhubaneswar Research & Entrepreneurship Park, in collaboration with UNICEF, Ayurarogya Saukhyam Foundation, Action Lab 2050 Foundation, and the Odisha Menstrual Health and Hygiene Alliance. It will bring together global experts, NGOs, policymakers, healthcare providers, and educators to drive impactful dialogue and action around menstrual health.
Smt. Pravati Parida, Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha has consented to grace the occasion a Chief Guest.
This one-day event will spotlight key issues such as menstrual stigma, access to hygiene products, menstrual education, environmental impact, and mental health. It will also feature exhibitions of innovative menstrual products and community-led awareness initiatives.
Event Highlights:
• Launch of Project CARE (Campus Action for Reusable Essentials), an initiative to promote the use of reusable menstrual products among school and college-going girls
• Inauguration of 2 sanitary napkin vending machines donated by Canara Bank
• Distribution of Reusable Pad Sets to the beneficiaries from the adopted villages of IIT Bhubaneswar under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA)
• Launch of Project Asmita – My Period, My Pride
• Expert panel discussions on government initiatives and sustainable menstrual health solutions
• Addresses by distinguished representatives from UNICEF, AIIMS, Nexus Select Trust, and Saukhyam Foundation
• Unveiling of hackathon themes under Project PERIOD
The conclave aims to offer a vital platform for sharing knowledge, fostering partnerships, and promoting inclusive and sustainable menstrual health practices.
