Minor Derailment of Train No. 22611 Chennai-New Jalpaiguri (MAS-NJP) Express took place at approximately 8:51 am on Today while the train was crossing Jakhapura Yard (JKPR).
According to reports from railway authorities, one AC coach and two general coaches derailed inside the yard limits while the train was moving at a very slow pace. There have been no reports of loss of life or injuries to passengers.
Railway authorities have confirmed that the running of passenger trains is unaffected. Passengers affected by the incident are being adequately accommodated, and the derailed coaches are being separated. To facilitate passengers, additional coaches will be attached to the train as and when required.
In the wake of the incident, Accident Relief Trains (ARTs) from Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road, along with Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) from Khurda Road, were dispatched at 8:53 am.
Higher railway officials are present at the site and are closely monitoring restoration and safety-related activities.
