Bhubaneswar: Observance of Annual Pani Panchayat Pakhya,2023 has kickstarted across 117 Divisions of the State as a part of the Pani Panchayat Pakhya, being observed during 1st -15th February, 2023 to acknowledge the importance of Pani Panchayats in water governance, participatory irrigation management and ensuring equity at the grassroot level.

The Pakhya will be observed at three levels i.e., division, district and State on 1st February, 8th February, 2023 and 15th February, 2023 respectively. Raths has been flagged off by Ministers, in presence of local MLAs, eminent persons today i.e on 1st February.

Various activities such as debate, essay, painting, quiz competitions amongst school children; exhibitions; Pani Panchayat Samabesha; Information Education Communication &Social Behavioural Change Communication (IEC &SBCC) activities through exhibitions and Rath etc. are being organized for the purpose. Banners, brochures, logo, slogan, tagline, anthem, oath etc. have also been prepared to create the buzz.

Today Shri Ranendra Pratap Swain, Minister, A&FE, F&ARD flagged off the Raths at Cuttack; Shri Jagannath Sarka, Minister ST & SC Development and Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare at Rayagada and Shri Rajanikant Singha Deputy Speaker at Angul. Besides, MLAs, Bhadrak; Bargarh; Talsara; Chitrakonda also flagged off the Raths in their respective constituencies.

Further, Collectors & District Magistrates, Ganjam, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balasore, Kalahandi, Koraput, Jagatsinghpur, Balangir were also a part of the flagging off of the Raths. Jala Prabharis of the Department of Water Resources have also been tasked to monitor activities in districts assigned to them.
