PECUC Sisumela in Bhubaneswar: “Children possess immense talent, and they need encouragement and motivation at every level to unlock their potential and bring their talents to the forefront,” stated the esteemed guests at the inaugural ceremony of the 35th PECUC Sisumela (Children’s Festival) organized by People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC), a prominent voluntary organization in Odisha, with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp at Ekamra Haat Amphitheater in Bhubaneswar.

Esteemed guest Mr. Madam Mohan Paik, Additional Labour Commissioner emphasized the importance of parental support in nurturing children’s dreams, urging parents to encourage rather than pressure their children. Ms. Sulochana Das, Mayor of Bhubaneswar, highlighted that children should be given opportunities to express their unique talents. Mr. Aswini Kumar Das, IAS (Retd.), former Labour Commissioner, encouraged children to strive toward their dreams and become responsible citizens. Renowned cine artist Ms. Anu Chaudhury inspired the young participants to pursue their aspirations passionately, Bhoomika Das, another celebrated artist,  shared her thoughts and encouraged children to recognize their inner talent and passion and sports figure Anshika Routray advised children to spend time in outdoor activities to enhance their mental strength.

The inaugural function was presided over by Mr. Pradosh Kumar Pattnaik, President of the PECUC Sisumela Committee, who spoke about PECUC’s long-standing commitment to creating joyful memories for children over the past 35 years. Mr. Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary of PECUC, welcomed everyone, and said “Every child deserves a safe and joyful childhood, and it is our collective responsibility to create such an environment.” Ms. Minakhi Panda, Chairperson of PECUC, encouraged parents to dedicate time to their children.

Among other distinguished speakers were Olympian Anuradha Biswal; Dr. Bhakta Bandhu Acharya, Senior Technical Consultant,Labour and ESI Dept., Govt. of Odisha Debidatta Das, Secretary, Rotary Club of Bhubaneswar Unique,  Pratima Nalini Pati, President of Inner Wheel Club, Bhubaneswar; all conveyed messages of encouragement to the children. Child Artist and PECUC Goodwill Ambassador Suhana Kar, along with Tapas Kumar Sarangi, inspired the children to participate in co-curricular activities and contribute to a healthier world. Ms. Anuradha Mohanty, Executive Director of PECUC gave the welcome address by setting a joyful tone for the Children’s Festival.  Ms. Ratna Dash, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks.

The programme was organized with help and cooperation from Ministry of Culture Govt. of India and Odia Language, Literature and Culture De,pt., Govt of Odisha, IMFA, Adoptionscentrum, and AEIN. The day’s cultural program featured performances by children from Dasaabatara Natya Sala, Lakshya Dance Group, Gandamunda High School, and Tapashya Dance Group. Jyotishankar Mohanty, Dr. Sumitra Mohanty, Alpana Das, Upama Mohanty, and Panu Behera of PECUC facilitated the programme. This programme will continue till 20th Nov 2024.
