President of the Philippines Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to arrive in New Delhi this afternoon for a five-day State Visit to India. Accompanied by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos, the President will be joined by a high-level delegation that includes several Cabinet Ministers, senior officials, dignitaries, and business representatives.

This marks President Marcos Jr.’s first official visit to India since assuming office, and comes at a historic moment as both countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations established in November 1949.

During the visit, President Marcos is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. He will also call on President Droupadi Murmu, while External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is expected to meet the visiting dignitary.

In addition to engagements in the capital, President Marcos will travel to Bengaluru, where he is expected to interact with business leaders and explore avenues for deepening economic cooperation.

India and the Philippines share a robust partnership spanning trade and investment, defence and security, maritime cooperation, agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and digital technologies. The two countries also maintain close regional cooperation, especially through India’s Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN.

India’s ties with the Philippines are a key component of its Act East Policy, Vision MAHASAGAR, and its broader Indo-Pacific strategy. The State Visit is seen as a pivotal moment to strengthen bilateral relations and provide new momentum to cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
