PM Departs for Thailand and Sri Lanka to Strengthen Regional Ties

PM Departs for Thailand: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on an official visit to Thailand and Sri Lanka today at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. During the visit, he will participate in the 6th BIMSTEC Summit and engage in high-level discussions to enhance regional cooperation.

Highlighting the significance of BIMSTEC, the Prime Minister stated that the forum has become instrumental in fostering regional development, connectivity, and economic progress in the Bay of Bengal region. He emphasized India’s North Eastern region as central to BIMSTEC’s vision and expressed eagerness to collaborate with leaders of the member countries.

In Thailand, the Prime Minister is set to meet Prime Minister Shinawatra and other Thai leaders to reinforce the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between the two nations. Discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Following his engagements in Thailand, the Prime Minister Modi  will visit Sri Lanka from  4th April to 6 April. This visit comes after Sri Lankan President  Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s successful trip to India last December. Both leaders will review the progress of their joint vision, “Fostering Partnerships for a Shared Future,” and explore ways to further deepen bilateral relations.

Expressing optimism about the visit, the Prime Minister stated that these engagements would reinforce strong ties with both nations and contribute to regional stability and prosperity.
